Janet Oliver Studio

I've drawn since I was five years old, when my mother gave me a pencil and a piece of paper and told me to keep myself busy. Mostly I drew horses, because my grandparents owned one, a old Tennessee Walker mare named Trixie.

I originally entered college in 1978 to study astronomy, but left to be a full-time parent. After raising two sons, I returned to college in 1995 to study painting. I received my M.F.A. degree in 2002, then taught introductory drawing and art history at my degree institution, UNCG, from 2002 to 2005.

I keep myself busy these days in my home studio in Erie, Co.
