Rural Rhythm Records

In 1955 Uncle Jim O’Neal started Rural Rhythm with a few dollars and lot of dreams. He knew he couldn’t produce all the bluegrass & old-time country records, so as he used to say he just “made the best of it”.

Today, over 50 years later Rural Rhythm has produced and distributed hundreds of classic performances by many of the legends of bluegrass and old-time country music such as MAC WISEMAN, DON RENO, RED SMILEY, THE KENTUCKY COLONELS, CLARENCE WHITE, DOUG DILLARD, HYLO BROWN, VASSAR CLEMENTS, BILL HARRELL, RAYMOND FAIRCHILD, JIM EANES, CURLY FOX, J.E. MAINER, TATER TATE and more…

Rural Rhythm has put a lot of dedication into preserving the works of bluegrass and old-time country music throughout the 50’s, 60’s & early 70’s, which we call our “SOUND TRADITIONS”. Our “SOUND TRADTIONS” titles are allremastered from the original master tapes by Steve Hoffman, (a leading recording engineer in the Audiophile market-DCC fame). The end results are some of the best sounding authentic traditional Bluegrass and Old-Time Country music available today.

Now we are bringing on fresh new artists, which we call our “NEW TRADITIONS”, and are releasing albums by highly respected bands such as LONESOME RIVER BAND, RUSSELL MOORE & IIIRD TYME OUT, AUDIE BLAYLOCK & REDLINE, BLUE MOON RISING, GRASSTOWNE; THE CROWE BROTHERS, plus many more. Many of these albums have been honored with awards and nominations such as MICHAEL MARTIN MURPHEY’s Grammy nominated Buckaroo Blue Grass; Lou Reid and Carolina’s DOVE nominated, Sounds Like Heaven to Me; plus numerous Billboard Bluegrass Chart albums by artist such as CARRIE HASSLER, THE ROYS, and the special recorded event project, THE ALL-STAR JAM – LIVE AT GRAVE MOUNTAIN. We have been honored to release many solo projects during the years including those by RICKEY WASSON, MIKE SCOTT, CLAY JONES, JIM VANCLEVE, plus second generation bluegrass veteran DWIGHT McCALL. DWIGHT’S father JIM McCALL recorded for Rural Rhythm in the late 60’s and early 70’s with the popular bluegrass band EARL TAYLOR & JIM McCALL with The Stoney Mountain Boys.
